Looking For a Way to Explain Chiropractic Care to Your Children?

Maria Luchsinger, (pronounced Lucksinger) author and teacher from Washington State, is celebrating the 10th anniversary of the first children’s book written to explain chiropractic care, Sammy the Centipede Goes to the Chiropractor.

Maria first published the book back in 2013, because…”years prior in the 90’s we did not have the publishing options we have today.” She wrote it because one of her daughters had breathing problems and was helped by chiropractic care. She could not find a book for children explaining about chiropractic care so she decided to write one.

She then had it reviewed by chiropractors including Dr. Claudia Anrig, a well-known pediatric chiropractor who has recommended the book in Dynamic Chiropractic Magazine.

The book has also been sold at Palmer College of Chiropractic, and been featured in ChiroEco.com and Massage Magazine. The Spanish version is Samuelito el Ciempies va al Quiropractico.

Dr. Eric Fassler says:

“I loved this beautiful book. It’s informative, vibrant, cheerful. The writing is upbeat and great for all my little patients. I’m a family practice doctor that sees children. I love having teaching materials that help my patients feel comfortable. This is just the ticket.”

 Dr. Dennis Dilday says:

“Her clear and playful imagery communicates complex concepts in a way that any child will “get” at a very deep level. And she makes it sooooo much fun! Makes you wish you were a kid again.”

and Dr. David J. Mayes says:

“I just wanted to let you know that I read Sammy to my four-year old son that

night after meeting you at the conference. And he LOVED it! Thank you for contributing to chiropractic.”

In addition, there is a series of Sammy the Centipede books on health topics including nutrition, fitness, and dental care. Sammy books have had global impact with chiropractors in Australia to a preschool in Egypt.
