Is the white tail spider poisonous?
These dark grey spiders are readily recognised by a distinctive white patch on the end of the abdomen.
Their bite can be painful as well as a burning feeling, swelling, redness and itchiness usually resolves.
If you suspect you have been bitten by a white-tailed spider only simple first aid is necessary.
Clean the bite area with antiseptic then place ice on the bite to reduce any pain or swelling.
